Americans have long praised those that race toward danger while most runaway, or at best stop to take video from their Iphones. We call those that face down danger at a high cost to themselves as brave. Webster’s dictionary defines bravery as “the quality or state of having or showing mental or moral strength to face danger, fear, or difficulty: the quality or state of being brave.”
But the left has, like most other things taken a clear definition and changed it to mean anything they deem to be promoting their world view. The latest example is calling the representatives that fled Texas rather than vote on voting integrity legislation as brave men and women.
Here is just a few of the comments made in the last week:
On a recent broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Last Word,” Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) praised the “brave and persevering Texas legislators.” Whiney NY Senator Chucky Schumer said, “They are brave, they are bold, they are courageous and history will show them on the side of right.” Our distinguished yet somewhat dim-witted Vice President, Kamala Harris, told them: “You are courageous leaders and American patriots.”
Minnesota Senator Klobuchar said, “We stand here with these people of courage, with freedom fighters who came to Washington D.C. to seek salvation because they are not going to be able to get that governor of Texas to protect the voting rights of the people.” Finally, the one fleeing Dems said, “Just landed in Memphis on our way to DC. Thank y’all for your well wishes. We left behind our families, our livelihoods, & our beloved Texas.”
Now that is rich, isn’t it? They left behind doing their job while enjoying a private jet travel,4-star hotels and nice dinners with other political elites. What a sacrifice. It’s clearly a political ploy but it will not work because “flee-ibuster” has already entered the vocabulary.
Washington Post columnist Karen Attiah has a request: “Could we stop using the word ‘fleeing,’ as it makes them sound like cowards or victims. Wouldn’t “left the state” suffice?”
No, they are fleeing. These clowns are taking cell phone pictures of their airport lunches and calling them “my first meal as a fugitive.” If they’re calling themselves fugitives, then obviously they did flee the state.
While the Dems enjoy their meals out we in the heartland will recognize real heroes:
Soldiers, fire fighters, police and emergency personnel that answer the call and put their own lives at peril to help the rest of us.
The small business owners and residents who stood their ground during the BLM riots to protect their family homes and businesses. Many were beaten, some killed.
The ordinary citizens that come to the aid of overwhelmed police and fellow citizens caught up in civil unrest.
America’s 56 forefathers that signed their own death warrant when they put their names to the Declaration of Independence which stated “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
To be clear, bravery is not coming out in this age as gay, lesbian or transsexual. It is not attacking police headquarters or government buildings. It is not a reporter asking Joe Biden what his favorite ice cream flavor is. And finally, it is not millionaire sports stars kneeling during the national anthem.
Americans know what true bravery is and unfortunately today, it seems to be in short supply.
