Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss

In 1971 The Who released one of the best rock albums of all time titled Who’s Next. It featured a rock anthem called “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” A song written by the band’s Pete Townsend about a future where free expression through rock and roll is outlawed and everyone lives in a government-controlled environment called the grid.

The lyrics include this passage and ending:

Change, it had to come We knew it all along We were liberated from the fall, that's all And the world looks just the same And history ain't changed 'Cause the banners, they all flown in the last war

Meet the new boss Same as the old boss

Unfortunately, too many Americans continue to elect the same boss. Townsend was quite insightful about government power and corruption well before the internet, social media and the large corporate media mouthpieces supporting the powerful and connected. Now we are just being handed dogma, illogical rationale and other “truths” to keep us scared and reliant on those in power. Saying goodbye to individual freedom along the way. And we keep putting the same people in power.

Recent examples include:

  • Joe Biden – Many were so scared of Donald Trump that Americans chose a demented bad version of Barrack Obama. They kept him hidden and out of the public eye just long enough to get him elected. His administration along with the career bureaucrats are happy to trade individual freedom for a nanny state and globalist approach that has little regard for the common man, small business owner and others without power or influence.

  • Gavin Newsom – Things are going so well in California that the citizens (and surely plenty of non-citizens) decided NOT to recall their governor. Why? Because the $70 million dollar campaign scared the folks that Larry Elder was really just Donald Trump. That’s it. And the dopes bought it despite a bad economy, terrible homelessness and crime out of control. But the internet and Hollywood elites are secure.

  • Kathy Hochul – New York’s new governor that replaced disgraced Andrew Cuomo seems to be a lighter version of the same ol’ same ol’ in New York. Granted, she was not elected to her post but you know she will be when it’s time. Do you think the New York Dems will hold those accountable for the nursing home deaths, under reporting of COVID deaths and the coverups?

  • Federal Bureaucrats – Politicians come and go but the real people in power stay. Those leading the various governmental bodies of defense, justice, education, housing and health continue to follow their agendas driven by lobbyists and special interests permanently attached to the government teat. This will continue until we eliminate the deep state through smaller government.

It is time for Americans to stop listening to what the powerful and their surrogates say and start paying attention to what they do. The elites play by their own rules. They don’t care about us. They care about protecting their power, wealth and influence. Their answer to homelessness, crime, drug addiction, suicide, bad education and generations of debt repayments only involves giving them more control and our money.

A wide swath of the public thinks progressives are all about the counter culture and creating a better future. What they fail to realize is the left is the establishment today. They are the system. The man. And it ain’t cool, hip or progressive, it’s regressive.

American ingenuity with dedicated patriots could make America a much better place but instead we choose to act like scared little children and keep those who got us here in power. We continue to support even more government and the so called “experts.”

So, it seems all we can really do is what Pete Townsend laments:

I'll get on my knees and pray

We don't get fooled again
